Drapeau du Québec
The fleurdelisé was established as the national flag of Quebec by the government of Maurice Duplessis on January 21, 1948. He then replaced the British flag, the Union Jack, at the top of the central tower of Parliament. It is composed of a white cross representing the Christian faith and four flowers of lilies on azure background in memory of the French origins of Quebec. These elements are present on French flags since the Middle Ages and omit the banners used by the first French explorers in North America.
