Flag of Acadia

The Acadian flag is a powerful emblem that embodies Acadian identity and culture. Inspired by the French flag, it consists of three vertical stripes of blue, white and red. On the blue strip, on the left, is a golden star, known as the Virgin Mary's star. This star symbolizes the Catholic faith of the Acadians and their hope and perseverance in the face of the challenges of history. Where is Acadia?

Acadia is a cultural and historical region, mainly in eastern Canada, covering parts of the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. There are also traces of Acadia in Quebec and Maine in the United States. Rather than a clearly defined geographic area, Acadia is a cultural space where Acadians, a people of French origin, have been able to maintain their language and traditions. Despite the trials of the Great Derangement, a massive deportation orchestrated by the British in 1755, the Acadians have persevered and continue to celebrate their rich heritage today.
