The Story of Distillerie Shefford
The story of Distillerie Shefford begins with the shared dream of Gérald Lacroix and Josée Métivier to own an artisanal distillery. In 2014, while they were pre-retirees, they started visiting distilleries across Canada for inspiration. Their vision was to create a rustic and bucolic place to make their distillery a prime destination.
In autumn 2015, they finally found the perfect location, situated halfway between Granby and Bromont, near Mont-Shefford, with fields and a sugar bush for the basic ingredients. The building was ready by summer 2016, and they began setting up the distillery. In January 2017, Distillerie Shefford received its distilling license and began operations.
In 2020, La Cabane à Boubou, owned by the Bourassa Brothers, acquired Distillerie Shefford. The Bourassa Brothers have been passionate maple syrup producers for over 20 years, and the opportunity to complete their range of maple products delighted them. In 2021, the Bourassa Brothers renovated their building to accommodate Distillerie Shefford in the new premises. Thus, the two companies are now housed under the same roof at 18 Chemin Saxby N. in Shefford, and the products of Distillerie Shefford now share a store with the maple products of La Cabane à Boubou.
