A Rich History of Over 150 Years

The history of viticulture on Pelee Island dates back to 1854, making Pelee Winery a pioneer in the production of Canadian wine. Since then, the estate has continually evolved by combining ancestral traditions and modern innovations, with a constant pursuit of excellence and authenticity. The first wines were even recognized at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1878, a testament to the historic expertise of this house.

A Strong Commitment to Sustainability and Quality

As a founding member of Sustainable Winemaking Ontario, Pelee Island Winery practices sustainable viticulture by limiting the use of pesticides and using 100% natural fertilizers produced locally, including sorghum. The ecological management of the vineyard also includes the preservation of the red cedar savanna and an ambitious program to make the island community the greenest in North America.
